Keep Your Current Phone Number and switch to Jazzd Phone Service

Jazzd Phone Service offers the option of keeping your current phone number, if you reside in an area where the number can be transferred to Jazzd Phone, or receive a new one. To find out if you can switch your existing phone number to Jazzd Phone Service, simply enter your area code and the first three digits of your phone number into the table to the right.   A message will inform you if you can transfer your number.  New areas are being added frequently so check back often to see if your area has been added. 

Number Portability limitations

• You must sign up and open an active Jazzd Phone account.
• The number you are transferring must be in a Jazzd Phone service area, and must be with a provider with whom we have an agreement to transfer numbers.
• Your current number must remain active with your current local telephone company until it has been transferred to Jazzd Phone.
• If you have DSL on your current number, you will need to check with your current internet provider to make sure you can continue to have your DSL service without having phone service through them.
• You must have a copy of your current phone bill from the past 30 days.
• If you have a system in your household (ie. security system, satellite TV, or TiVo), you may need to move those services to another phone line.
• Certain services and limitations associated with your existing telephone service may delay or prohibit completion of the transfer. Examples include, but are not limited to: 1) service through a competitive local exchange carrier, 2) distinctive ring, 3) shared lines.

How do I transfer my number?
If your number qualifies, it’s easy. Just sign up and select the option to keep your existing phone number. During the sign-up process, you’ll need to complete a few simple steps to start the transfer process. And you can always transfer your number later if you want to try out D&E Jazzd Phone Service first.

What Happens If my Number Cannot Be Transferred?
If Jazzd Phone cannot transfer your number, you may choose to get a new Jazzd Phone number in your area or elsewhere. Or, you may decide to keep your existing phone number with minimal service and add a Jazzd Phone number that will help you save on outgoing calls.

How Long Does it Take?
Transferring your number will take a minimum of 30 business days once you start the transfer process.  In the meantime, you will be provided with a temporary Jazzd Phone number that you can use with your Jazzd Phone account. Your current phone number will continue to work on your existing standard telephone line until the transfer is completed. Jazzd Phone Service will email you with the target transfer date, and again with confirmation that the transfer has been completed. You can track the progress of your request any time by logging into the Jazzd Phone Service My Assistant Account Manager page.

Please do not cancel your existing service with your current local and/or long distance carrier.
Jazzd Phone Service will handle cancellation of both your local and long distance accounts for you. Canceling these services yourself can result in a disruption of the transfer.

If you are a Jazzd Phone Service customer and continue to have a primary line with another provider, and would like to transfer that number to your Jazzd Phone account, first see if the number qualifies to be transferred by entering that number in the qualifier table. If your number qualifies to be transferred, go to the My Assistant online Account Manager and start the transferring process of your current phone number to Jazzd Phone Service.

You Can Transfer Your Cell Phone Number.
Most cell phone numbers are transferable to Jazzd Phone Service.  Plug your current wireless phone number into the qualifier above, to see if your number qualifies.  The process would be the same as transferring a landline phone number.
