Requests to activate Enhanced 911 (E911) information will NOT be accepted for areas outside these 14 counties at this time.

• Berks

• Centre
• Chester
• Cumberland
• Dauphin
• Lancaster
• Lebanon
• Lycoming
• Montgomery
• Northumberland
• Snyder
• Union
• York

What is Enhanced 911 (E911) Information?
Enhanced 911 (E911) Information is your name and the physical address of your Jazzd Phone Adapter.  This information is kept with the local 911 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) center and is used to route calls to the correct Emergency Personnel. It is your responsibility to keep this information up to date.

How does my E911 information (name and service address) get routed to my local PSAP?

  • During the sign up process you are required to fill out an E911 service request form. The information submitted gets forwarded to the appropriate PSAP for location approval. The approval process takes 2-4 weeks; you will receive a confirmation e-mail when your information has been accepted. If a call is placed to 911 prior to your information being approved, your call will be forwarded to an operator, but your location information will not be available. Therefore, we highly recommend you have an alternative way to use E911 until your information has been approved.

Please be advised: If you request a telephone number from a county other than the one you currently reside in (i.e. you live in Lancaster and you pick a State College number) and call 911 before your E911 has been approved, your call will be routed to the PSAP associated with the number you choose (State College), not the PSAP you reside in (Lancaster). Any calls placed to 911 after approval has been accepted will be routed to the PSAP associated with your service address (Lancaster). If you choose a number within the same county you reside, you will be able to place a call to 911 prior to your information being approved, and be routed to the correct PSAP. However, until your information has been approved, your location is not identifiable to 911 operators to know where emergency services need to be dispatched, you will get a general 911 operator. Examples of 911 & E911 service with Jazzd Phone Service for Broadband:

  • You live in Lancaster and choose a Lancaster 717-735-xxxx number. Because you are a Lancaster customer who has a Lancaster Jazzd Phone Service number, you can submit your Lancaster address when submitting your Enhanced 911 (E911) information. This information will be directed to the Lancaster County 911 PSAP, with your correct address in Lancaster, for acceptance and activation.

  • You live in Reading and choose a Lancaster 717-735-xxxx number. Although you are a Reading customer who has a Lancaster Jazzd Phone Service number, you can submit your Reading address when submitting your Enhanced 911 (E911) information. Because Reading is in one of the 14 counties we provide 911/E911 service to, it will get accepted and any 911 calls will be routed to the Berks County 911 PSAP with your correct address in Reading, not the Lancaster County 911 PSAP.  However, it is better to choose a number within your home county to ensure the best response from the PSAP.

What’s the difference between 911/E911 Service with Jazzd Phone Service for Broadband and my regular phone line and how do I request to activate my Enhanced 911 (E911) Information?

There are several important differences between Jazzd Phone Service for Broadband 911/E911 Emergency Service and traditional 911 service that you need to know and understand:

  • You are required to fill out an Enhanced 911 (E911) Information request form when you sign up for Jazzd Phone Service.  Jazzd Phone only provides E911 service in the 14 counties in which we provide service.  You are responsible for providing the correct physical address of your D&E Jazzd Phone Adapter.  Failure to do so will result in emergency personnel being routed to an incorrect address.  This information is sent to the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for approval.  You will be notified by confirmation e-mail if your location address has been accepted by the PSAP.  Until service is approved, your location is not identifiable to a 911 operator.

  • If a Jazzd Phone customer moves or changes the physical location of their Jazzd Phone Adapter to a different street address within one of the 14 counties where we provide service, they must resubmit their new 911/E911 information.  Because this service is portable, with a broadband connection, a PSAP does not know when a customer has moved until they are notified by the customer of an address change.  Failure to update information may result in emergency personnel going to the wrong location.  If the move is outside of the 14 counties in which Jazzd Phone provides service, the request for E911 will be denied.  Jazzd Phone will work, however 911 service will not be available.  YOU WILL NEED TO FIND AND MAINTAIN ALTERNATIVE MEANS TO CONNECT TO YOUR LOCAL 911 PSAP CENTER.

  • If you supplied incorrect information when requesting activation of the E911 Service, every attempt by D&E Jazzd will be made to correct the information. However, this may slow down the acceptance of your information by the PSAP.

  • Power outages WILL PREVENT 911/E911 dialing. Should there be an interruption in the power supply, neither the Jazzd Phone Service, nor 911/E911 dialing will function until power is restored.
